Trauma’s Impact on Safe and Effective Policing: Understanding trauma’s role in crime reduction, increased community engagement and law enforcement job satisfaction. Participants will receive an in-depth description on how trauma develops from childhood, working in a high stress career, and with those who officers come in contact with during the course of their duties. ACE scoring will be presented with an opportunity to discuss potential implications those scores may have on one’s life, career, and interactions with others. Objectives include:
•Understanding trauma and its impact on the brain, personal health and the health and safety of our communities.
•Learning and understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and their impact on the brain, personal health and the health and safety of our communities.
•Recognize and be aware of how your trauma experiences and ACE score impact you and the job you perform.
•Utilizing the knowledge of trauma to positively impact our communities and decrease crime.
•Utilizing the knowledge of trauma to positively impact law enforcement job satisfaction and decrease burnout.
•Understanding historical and generational trauma and its impact on the officer and people you come in contact with.
